Many cultural events take place in Portel throughout the year. May is the month of the Film Festival, on the subject “The Castle in Images”. There are festivities during the month of August, when the town is filled with colour, dancing and singing from the groups taking part in the International Folk Festival; at the same time, the town also hosts Portelaves, one of the biggest bird shows in the country. The approach of the end of the year is marked by a very special event, the Oak Fair, which is when Portel completely devotes itself to its role as “Capital of the Oak Groves”.
