Thanks to the wealth and diversity of the flora in the Portel mountains and the very favourable weather conditions, Portel honey, that “golden thread”, has very special characteristics and is of excellent quality.
It is French lavender (Lavandula stoechas), an aromatic plant that predominates throughout the mountain region, that gives this honey its characteristic flavour. It is light yellow in colour, clear and shiny, with a slightly mentholated aroma and a smooth sweet taste, characteristics which make it much appreciated.
